Is the umbrella under which all our gender centric work and programs are housed. This includes Gender Bender, our annual gender centric arts festival.

We offer short/long term residencies to local and international artists on creative and/or research-oriented projects.

and our work reflects the sum of the roles we play.

CURATORS

We conceive, conceptualise and curate theatre and arts festivals, for cultural organisations, venues, corporates and other institutions.

RESEARCH 

& MENTORSHIP

We provide India-centric arts and gender related research assistance and mentorship facilities to international artists and organisations.

ART ENCOUNTERS

We curate art trips and theatre-based workshops for children and adults. We also create programs to engage local communities through performances, seminars, discussions and other artist-led engagements as part of our work in the field of arts education.

WHO WE ARE

NIMI RAVINDRAN

Co-Founder / Artistic Director

Nimi Ravindran is a writer, theatre director and educator who has worked in the theatre for  20 years in various capacities. She was  artistic director of Just Theatre, a Bangalore-based theatre group  where she produced and directed numerous theatre projects. She served in the core group of Ranga Shankara till 2007 and is on the advisory board of  The Company Theatre, Workspace in Kamshet. Maharashtra. She holds a Senior Fellowship in Theatre from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. In an earlier life she worked as a journalist, covering arts and culture, and was Assistant Editor at India Today magazine.

SHIVA PATHAK

Co-Founder / Artistic Director

Shiva Pathak is an actor, consultant and arts manager. She has worked in the theatre for over 15 years. Her tryst with performing arts began during her college days as an actor and production manager;  she has since then worked on projects with some of India’s leading arts organisations – Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Ranga Shankara and India Foundation for the Arts – before starting Sandbox Collective in 2013. She is Director, Bhasha Centre and a Trustee of Toto Funds the Arts. She is also an Art Think South Asia Fellow 2016-17.

RAABIYA JAYARAM

Director Programmes

Raabiya Jayaram is a documentary film maker who helped set up the video archive for the Archive and Research Center for Ethnomusicology at the American Institute of Indian Studies, Gurgaon. As Director Roughcut Productions she has worked on numerous documentary films on a variety of issues ranging from rural development to gender and sexuality. She has also been involved with the arts both as a performer and arts manager.

AAKRITI CHANDERVANSHI

Visual Designer 

Aakriti Chandervanshi is a visual artist, curator and designer from India. As an architectural graduate from Sir J J College of Architecture, the roots of her practice emerge from her keen interest in the historicities of the built environment and relevant debates around the discourse on their conservation. Her dissertation explores relating architecture with psychology (titled ‘Animals in Translation) following which she designed a Centre for Animal Assisted Therapy, which she’s currently pursuing to bring to life in the present day. She is devoted to her work and pets, perhaps not as equally as she would like.

LEYA MAMMEN

Programme Coordinator

Leya Mammen is a performer, facilitator and production manager based in Bangalore. She graduated from Christ University, Bangalore in 2021 and has since worked with various organisations like Teach for India, Toto Funds the Arts, Lokadharmi Theatre, Our Theatre and Thespo. She aims to create and support art for socio-political causes.
